The Master Singers
The Master Singers perform repertoire from a rich choral tradition. The chamber ensemble is celebrating its Nineteenth Anniversary Concert Season in 2011-2012 with a subscription series featuring three concerts. The ensemble is dedicated to the fostering, promotion and appreciation of choral music in the Greater Chippewa Valley. Membership of The Master Singers is from colleges and universities that are noted for a strong choral tradition throughout the Midwest. The ensemble performs annually in local churches and concert halls, as well as cathedrals in Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
The Master Singers have collaborated with prominent conductors/composers including Eric Barnum, Jackson Berkey, Eph Ehly, James Fritschel, Dale Grotenhuis, Dan Kallman, James Mulholland, Z. Randall Stroope and Jeffrey Van. This collaboration has involved annual commissioned work for the ensemble by noted American choral composers. The Master Singers have appeared in concert with the Chippewa Valley Symphony, Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra, Philadelphia Brass, Paula Smith, harpist, and gospel singer Robert Robinson.
The Master Singers have been a guest artist in the Missa Choralis Series at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis since 1997. The ensemble has performed in Wisconsin at the Richland Concert Association in Richland Center, the Mabel Tainter Memorial Theater in Menononie and at the Heyde Center for the Artsin Chippewa Falls. The Master Singers will premiere choral works by Eric Barnum and Andrew Steffen in their Nineteenth Concert Season. The ensemble has been featured on Wisconsin Public Radio in an annual broadcast of their holiday concert.
"The Master Singers are second to none! Their singing is the perfect balance of heart and voice, tone quality is ingratiating, sense of ensemble is never sacrificed, musicianship is of the highest degree. The result is an exhilarating musical experience of the highest order!"
